5 new sneakers you should check out this month
Being a team of avid sneaker collectors, we saw a great opportunity in getting the guys behind Avenue store and Lockwood Skateshop to list a few of their favourites for this month. They’ve hand-picked some of the best classics and up-and-comings of the season, and will continue to do so for Chase from now on.
Keep an eye out on this page and peep these five sneaker gems - all available on their website too!
Vans ArcAd x Octagon Slip-On Pro Leather White
This fine collaboration between the dystopian sci-fi themed Octagon and Vans’ topnotch Archive Advancement program (ArcAd - which is only available for 8 European shops) is hard to go by unnoticed. Buttery soft leather in a crispy white colorway, combined with a glossy black heel counter, topped off with all the enhanced Pro Skate features like an Ultracush insole for maximum comfort. Can’t go wrong with these beauties, as shown by teamrider Yeelen in the latest Octagon video: ‘Codebase’.
Nike Air Max 1/97 'Sean Wotherspoon'
March is packed with special product drops from Nike in the run towards Air Max Day that is held annually on the 26th of March. On Air Max Day 2017, Nike organised a contest with a handful of creatives from around the world; to design an Air Max without any boundaries. Everyone in the world could vote for their favourite. Vintage enthusiast Sean Wotherspoon came up with a Air Max 1 (sole) & corduroy (vegan-friendly) Air Max 97 (upper) design. He didn't get our vote, but he did win the contest and we're really looking forward to the release of this one. Launch: March 20, 2017.
Grandstand II Pinnacle “All Over Logo”
The Grand returns to the forefront in its original colors, for the first time since 1992. Deriving its name from one of the most prolific tennis tournaments worldwide, It’s the perfect daily sneaker and an all round beautiful vintage Nike sneaker. We’ve sold the standard Grandstand II really well already, and it’s been restocked a few times - making it a hit for the start of 2018. This premium all over white version with the Nike logo debossed all over the upper is just too crisp!
Nike Air Span
The Nike Air Span first released in 1988. Following up, Nike launched the Nike Air Span 2 during 1990 and 1991. The throwback runner is poised to make a comeback this year in one of its original color schemes, which sees a mix of white, grey and black swarm the upper, while bold blue accents make its way onto the side panel Swoosh, tongue tag and outsole. Signature Air Span II branding found on the side area completes the look.
Looking at some major designer runway shows, it’s obvious where they got their inspiration from. Bulky dad shoes, an emphasis on loud detailing throughout the upper and midsole of the shoe, you name it. The sports brands did it first. The Fila Disruptor is the perfect chunky sneaker, with a bold look and an amazingly soft and supportive feel. Top tier cushioning on a rugged outsole - seemingly ready to take on any surface - combined with a sturdy suede or leather finish. These designs will be a hot topic for some time to come, and honestly, what's not to love?
