6 new Belgian hip-hop tracks to start 2020: Lil Skid, Yung Mavu & more
Every week, we select some new Belgian hip-hop tracks that somehow caught our attention. Keep sending us new tracks or EP releases via firstname.lastname@example.org, and maybe your name will be on the list next Friday. Although Belgian artists apparently didn't take a holiday break, we did. We ate a lot, listed up the best of 2019 in hip-hop music and are now back for 2020 with some of the last 2019 tracks and the newest of this year. Let's go!

LIL SKID - GLOOMBUTCHER EP
Lil Skid, who was a nominee of our Chase New Urban award at RBEA19, ended 2019 with the music video of 'Picasso' for which he worked with camera talent Alanis Brouwers. The video artist has been working with Ronnie Flex and his little brother ADF Samski. To start off the year, Skid released his long-anticipated Gloombutcher EP on January 1st. A strong selection of Belgian trap tracks from the highest level!
YUNG MAVU - NOBODY LIKE YOU
Although Yung Mavu released this song in 2019 on his 'Matter Of Time' album, he decided to drop it as a single with a music video after the high popularity of this track. A music video made by the 32worldwide crew, and twan brooks as a music video director; this is what supporting your homies means! The music video is, as expected, from an international level with amazing cinematographic images.
CM2 - THE WORST GENERATION ALBUM
Cm2, a rapper who is part of the MOM collective from Antwerp, just released his first album 'The Worst Generation'. The track 'Mucho Dinero', which he dropped as a single in anticipation of the album, shows off what Cm2 got. Although the guy isn't Spanish, he has some steady rimes and puns in the 'Mucho Dinero' track.
VLB & ALOIS, SNELSTAPPERS, KRAPUUL, APEX RAPTORS - 9000 NEXT GEN CYPHER
Not that many rappers in the Belgian hip-hop scene come up with a cypher, and definitely not one from ten minutes. All these Ghent-based rappers, some that aren't even that big yet, came together to do exactly what not many did before. Somewhere in a basement, while one is rapping in some raw Ghent accent, another is entertaining us by patiently rolling a cigarette or drinking Cara pils, Belgium's all-time cheapest beer.
KRITICOS FT. NEW ATL - AFRICA
Kriticos, a rapper based in Belgium with Zambian roots, released his first EP 'Bemba Chagga' last October. He now came through with his next single 'Africa', together with artist New ATL. This track is catchy and hit-like, sung with a steady and good voice. Worth to be discovered by the Belgian radio stations!
MOCEA FT. SAN ANDREAS - UNO
Moceo, rapping in English, and San Andreas, with raw Ghent-accented-lyrics, already caught our attention with previous track 'Honey of Henny'. Dangerous beat to rap on, drilling our eardrums with correctly done ad-libs. These guys are going to get far in the Belgian trap game if they keep going as strong as they are right now. We heard there's coming a 'Sign Sign' EP somewhere in the future? Can't wait.
