Vote for best new urban artist - Chase Award at Red Bull Elektropedia Awards
For the past 3 years we have been handing out a Chase Award for the best urban artist at the Red Bull Elektropedia Awards. The first year, Woodie Smalls took home our award. For the past 2 years the big winner was Roméo Elvis, who also ended first place in a lot of the other awards. So as urban artists took over a lot of the other categories during the last editions, we felt like there was less need to hand out a separate urban award.
Therefore, together with Red Bull Elektropedia, we decided to focus on what we have been doing at Chase for the past 5 years: giving a platform to upcoming urban artists. Through our Chase Verses, interviews and weekly blogposts about the new Belgian hip-hop releases, we have introduced loads of unknown Belgian talent to you.
For this year's Chase award for best new urban artist , we collected more than 100 names of up-and-coming artist in hip hop, soul and/or R&B in a longlist. Our team focused on artists that started their career in the past years, aren't all over national radio yet and aren't headlining the big festivals yet.
Last week a jury of 20 experts in hip hop, soul and/or R&B, consisting of dj's, festival programmers and artists, voted on their favourites, resulting in the following list of nominees. If you've been following us, you might already know them, but we think these artist can break through with the big public in the coming years. One of them might even be the next Roméo Elvis?
You can now VOTE for your favourite new urban artist. While you're at it, don't forget to vote for CHASE in the best media category!
Voting closes on November 4th.
The Red Bull Elektropedia Awards take place on November 13 in Brussels.
