Bxl Hip-Hop DJ & producer contest by Chase, Mekitburn & Bozar
35 years ago the first sampled beats and rappers found their way into our vibrant capital. Nowadays the Brussels hip-hop scene is flourishing while more and more talent is popping out of the ground like delicious Brussels sprouts.
In the past these artists have always found a way to display their talent at Mekitburn Festival. This year will be a bit more special though, as on September 15, the first day of the festival, the main stage will be completely devoted to Brussels hip-hop. So far artists who will perform include: Zwangere Guy, Le 77, Eddy Ape and more.
“So far”, as we are still looking for one dj or producer to complete our line up.
Are you a DJ and would you like to be part of the festival? Are you from Brussels and do you have an unconditional love for hip-hop or rap music? Are you a beatmaker who likes to perform live?
Join the Mekitburn DJ Competition on vi.be by uploading a 30 minutes long mixtape and maybe you’ll be amongst 4 competitors to showcase your skills at our finale at BOZAR on the 25th of August! The winner will play at Mekitburn.
Take your chance now and maybe you’ll be opening the impressive Chase stage - powered by Br(ik!

Meet 21-year old producer Messoins, the brain behind YouTube series #JourneyOfABeat
Music and storytelling: its a match made in heaven for Arsène Rurangiza aka music producer and composer Messoins. He makes the art of producing beats look easy in his YouTube series Journey of a Beat. Messoins takes his viewers on a musical journey during which he explains step-by-step how he produced a certain beat. The digital music composer takes his beatmaking videos to the next level by inviting artists for each session. They write lyrics to his beats and perform the song live at the end of the video. Messoins manges to compress this whole process into easy-to-watch 5-minute videos.
