Genk verwelkomt urban festival StreetFEST
Op zaterdag 14 mei vindt de eerste editie van StreetFEST plaats op het skatepark in Genk-centrum. Voor dit urban festival sloegen Dienst Jeugd Genk en skateshop Yetiboards de handen in elkaar. Wie street zegt, zegt skaten en dat brengt ons meteen bij het eerste onderdeel van het event: een skatecontest. Er kan gestreden worden in de categorieën -15 jaar, +15 jaar en sponsored. Steppen is de dag van vandaag ook helemaal hot, dus de steppers kunnen evenzeer hun kans wagen, in de categorieën -12 en +12 jaar, om een van de vele prijzen mee naar huis te nemen. In die prijzenpot zit 1100 euro aan prijzengeld en toffe goodies die worden verdeeld over de podiumplaatsen. Grijp je toch net naast het podium? Niet getreurd, er valt ook nog wat te winnen als je als 'Beste Genkenaar' uit je categorie komt.
Naast skate- of steptalenten, passeren ook danstalenten de revue. We mogen bezoek verwachten van dance crews Patco en Fabrizio Ginessi die, as usual, weer zotte choreo's zullen bovenhalen. In de vroege avond zijn er optredens Don Luca, Fonzy Fons en Nupstr, maar ook dj's Jan Dééjoohcéé, Martiv en DJ Fuxie komen de bezoekers van de beste beats voorzien. Tot slot is er doorlopend een graffiti jam waar je, met of zonder ervaring, je creativiteit de vrije loop kan laten.

The most colourful people at Couleur CaféLast weekend we went to Couleur Café with our Chase team. Couleur Café is not only a festival to discover great new music, food, graffiti art and all that good stuff, but also a festival to discover new people. It might be weird to describe, but it is a festival where people come together with an open mind. Once you walk past the Atomium, you enter a place where people are ought to be themselves and do whatever they want, well almost whatever they want… A place for kids, youngsters, hipsters, people of age, Rastafari, parents and so on! Everybody is welcome. We wanted to meet some of these people and tried to find five of the most colorful people at Couleur Café. Or at least some of the most Colorful since everybody is a bit crazy in their own positive way there!

In Vlaanderen zijn er heel wat mensen die niet kunnen delen in onze comforten zoals knusse koffiebars en hippe restaurants. De twee Gentse non-profit organisaties Relaas en Enchanté slaan de handen in elkaar om mensen die er nood aan hebben bij te staan.
