Sneak’Up Ghent set the city’s kicks on fire at first convention
On December 15, the first edition of Sneak’Up took place in Ghent. As 2018 was an amazing year for kicks, the popular type of shoe earned itself a convention in Ghent. Sneaker- and street wear lovers from all over Belgium gathered to meet, shop and chit-chat on fashion. Accompanied by a DJ turning up the latest hip hop tracks, the first edition showed off the massive interest in anything labeled Nike, Jordan, Yeezy or Supreme in Belgium.

Sneak’Up was the final project for Johnas and Gilles, who study event- and projectmanagement. “We came up with the idea because sneakers are our passion. In two months, we found a location, sponsors and sellers who were down to rent a table.” Before Sneak’Up there was Sneaker’A’Fair in Antwerp for fresh kicks, but as the organisation quit, Johnas and Gilles saw the perfect opportunity to do something in Ghent.
“We thought there wouldn’t be that many people, but our tickets at the door sold really well. We can happily say it was a good first edition.” If you weren’t there: no worries, the second edition of Sneak’Up will probably follow this summer, with a focus on old school kicks and brands. “We want to wake up the youth, and show them there’s more than Yeezy or Supreme.”
