Splash! Festival in 10 pictures by our photographer Timo Vergauwen
Splash! Festival is one of Europe’s biggest hip-hop festivals. No doubt about it: we had to be there. So our photographer Timo Vergauwen embarked on a trip to Germany. What he brought home, was an entire photo album full of recollections. Timo selected his favorite 10 pics to show us what splash! is all about.
"Splash! Festival has a crazy line-up and a very fun atmosphere. The setting is insane, especially in the evening when the lights and smoke machines are on."
"German people know how to go crazy! I especially noticed that during the performances of several German rappers. They’re super popular over there, and it shows. Some local artists attracted more of a crowd than other international artists."
"I guess that the average Belgian who's into hip-hop has no idea of the German scene, which is regrettable because some of those guys are pretty good. I would like to see more German rap in Belgium. It's time for our local festivals to introduce more German artists!"
“I’ve seen Juice WRLD, Dexter and Friends, Brockhampton, OG Keemo, $uicideboy$, MadeInTYO, Bladee…”
"If you're a fan of underground rap, you'll go hard at splash!. Saba for example, an American artist who isn't that popular yet. You won't see these artists anytime soon at some other festival."
Timo's best memory of splash! Festival? "The performance of Dvtch Norris! I've been keeping an eye on him for a couple of years now and it's cool to see him also being appreciated abroad. Of course, we're proud of Belgium."
"Splash! is truly something different compared to our Belgian festivals. Unfortunately, it takes place at the same time as Dour and Woo Hah!. But if you want to try out something new, I'd recommend visiting splash! Festival. It's quite the experience."
Next edition of splash! Festival will take place from 9 July 2020 till 11!
