TURNING COAL INTO GOLD: A conversation with creatives in Genk
Genk is a city with many faces, literally. The second biggest city of Limburg counts 64.118 inhabitants and about 106 nationalities. More than half of its inhabitants have a foreign origin, which puts Genk first in Flanders. Meanwhile, 1 in 4 children is born into a family struggling with poverty and 1 in 5 quits school before getting a secondary diploma.
While the youth may experience some difficulties growing up, many turn their experiences into creative energy. We're taking a closer look at some of the local creatives in this first part of our two-part mini-documentary.
