Making a 3D mural come to life with AR in the centre of Hasselt
Interested in street art? Make sure to check out this colourful mural on a side wall of the old court building in Hasselt! The wall got pimped by a group of youngsters who participated in a two-week-long workshop given by Piazza. The goal of this organisation is to allow young creative people from the region develop their artistic talent.

The first week of the workshop was focused on making the 90m² mural. The participants got mentored by professional artist Larsen Bervoet during the process of turning their own ideas into a creation on the wall.
The second week was guided by artist Eveline Kurylak and filmmaker Sven Van Looy. This time was dedicated to bringing the pieces on the wall to life. How? Through all kinds of animation. From 2D/3D animation, to hand drawn animation, stop motion and motion graphics. These were then later turned into an augmented reality experience.
Want to see the result? Then visit the mural at Havermarkt 11 in Hasselt! The wall will feature a QR-code to check out the augmented reality experience. The code will be open to the public by the end of September!
