Chase November Spotify playlist: curated by LVMBO

The Chase Spotify playlist gets updated every month by a new curator. This month we chose LVMBO, who's in charge of booking the DJs for our weekly Facebook live streams in Hasselt. For these video streams, he mainly tries to put young talented DJs in the spotlight. "As a young DJ, it is not easy to claim your place. If I can make them play on a large platform like Chase, they gain huge exposure and it can give them a boost," he says. Hit the follow button to listen to LVMBO's favorite tracks of the moment!

HI LVMBO, DO YOU PREFER ENGLISH RAP OVER DUTCH RAP?

LVMBO: "No, not necessarily. I think it must be pure coincidence that the majority of the Belgian artists on the list speak English. I have an internship at a booking agency where 90% of the music is in Dutch, so I listen to it a lot. Maybe this is an incentive as to why I listen to a little more music in English in my free time. In general, I like to listen to both equally. There's a lot of buzzing in Belgium in terms of both English and Dutch music, I think that the moment I was compiling that playlist, slightly more English music came out than Dutch. I can be wrong, but I have no preference for English or Dutch. If I can vibe to it, I will probably put it in my playlist!"

THERE ARE A LOT OF NON-COMMERCIAL ARTISTS ON THE LIST. WHY SO?

LVMBO: "I consciously chose to put less famous musicians on the list. I thought this was a nice way to introduce others to less known, but high-quality artists. I myself am a very big fan of artists such as Kanye West and Travis Scott. I also hear this regularly as a DJ, but nobody needs a second "RapCaviar". Moreover, I also want to showcase music that I don't always play but listen to a lot in my spare time. For example, Ari Lennox or Frank Ocean because this radiates a totally different vibe than a Ye or a Travis. And some are just my favorite artists such as Brent Faiyaz."

WHAT ARE THE THREE MUST HEAR SONGS OF YOUR PLAYLIST?

LVMBO: "The first one is 'Fuck The World (Summer In London)' by Brent Faiyaz. I first came across Brent Faiyaz when I listened to Goldlink's album "At What Coast". I immediately thought "What a talent!". Since then I have been following Brent Faiyaz very closely, just like his project - Sonder - that he's doing together with Goldlink. The second one is Frank Ocean's 'DHL'. Duh, it's Frank Ocean. This doesn't need an explanation. And last but not least 'Fendi' by Geeeko. I have a very good feeling about Geeeko. Something in me says that he has a bright future awaiting him. You need these three songs in your playlist."
